Little Cards

Hello all,

At the end of each school year, I like to make a little card for my children's teachers to say thank you for the care, encouragement and support they have shown my children. The teachers work hard, and I feel very blessed to have such amazing educators in my children's lives.

This year, I decided to make a few more to keep in my stash for those moments when I am touched my another's thought for me, and I want to just say, 'thank you'.

This is what I created so far (I have 3 more on my desk waiting to be finished):

All these little cards are 4.5" x 4.5" created on recycled cereal boxes (then I stuck them onto a plain card). As you can see, the more I made, the slightly more layered they became. I just love working on this mini size, too - they represent little moments of joy to me. It was a great exercise in using up some of my stash as well. I have vowed to myself that I shan't buy any more product until I have made a good-sized dent in what I do have - I think this will take a while.:)

Thank you for coming by.

Wishing you and your loved ones,
a safe and
 Merry Christmas.

Paperdvizhnik Colour Challenge & Page Drafts Sketch #34.1

Hello all,

I have a traditional paper layout to share today - after doing so many digital ones, it was nice to get a little inky on the fingers. I decided to enter the Paperdvizhnik Challenge for this month. The focus is on these colours:

I just LOVE these colours so had to do something.
But then the problem was, I didn't have a lot of paper in those colours - I had in my mind to use a purple background paper, but I had none. So decided to make my own with the Gelli Plate. I made up a few but finally decided on using this one:

And my layout:

 And some close-ups:

I based my layout on this sketch: Page Drafts #34.1 by Em Stafrace (more inspiration using this series of sketches can be found HERE).

The challenge at paperdvizhnik closes in just over a week, so still time to enter.

Thanks for coming by.

Gelli Printing - Background Use

Hello all,

Earlier in the year, I did some Gelli Printing. Today I am showing what I have done with one of the sheets.

This is the one I have been working on:

I struggled with this, not knowing what to do with it. So I decided to cut it in half, and trim each one to make each piece 6"x8" as so:

I played around with one of the pieces (the right one) for a while and came to this:

It was sitting on my desk for ages (another reason I wasn't doing any paper scrapbooking), waiting for some form of inspiration. Well, it wasn't coming, so I decided to put it away and try something digital with it. This is the result:

Eventually I decided to work on the other half.  I used a mix of some scraps of paper I had left over from scrapbooking, as well as some acrylic paint and Posca pens. I quite like how this turned out:

A lot of dots - I have been watching some Aboriginal artists paint on YouTube, so perhaps I have been influenced by their work with regard to the many dots and strokes. In any case, it was very meditative, and think I shall try something like this again with another of my gelli backgrounds.

Thank you for coming by. I appreciate any comments you care to leave.

Hope you have a happy weekend!
