Tangie Baxter & Co - Art Journal Caravan - January Challenges

Hello Everyone,

Over at Tangie Baxter & Co,, Tangie has resurrected her Art Journal Caravan program, which I am super happy about it. It's an art journal journey that you can use as digital, or traditionally. I followed it in 2011, 2012 and part of 2014. This month, I decided to enter 2 of the 4 challenges available. The theme is 'Uncaged' and Tangie has generously provided many goodies to play with as part of the membership. I just LOVE the colours and images she has created for this program.

Go HERE for more info

This layout is for Challenge #3, incorporating the colours from the tinted fragments part of the challenge:

My second layout is for the January Challenge for which I changed the colours of a brush, added the quote, and added something from the January Grab Bag:

Credits:
Tangie Baxter | Uncaged Kit (Grab Bag); Uncaged Collage Sheets; Uncaged Brushes & Stamps No.1
Tangie Baxter & Rebecca McMeen | Uncaged Graffiti

Over these past school holidays, I have been studying and I have lost motivation to keep going. I created these layouts to remind myself that I just need to push myself through this phase and the end will be here soon. When it's all done, I will be able to fly.

Thank you for coming past. Hope you are enjoying your day. :)

CSI - #188

Hello all,

CSI currently have a bold and bright challenge on with a great sketch/template from Em Stafrace of The Nifty Pixel:

And this is my take on it:
MY BOY
 Credits:
Amanda Yi | You Are Fabulous
Scotty Girl | This & That
Just Jaimee | StoryTeller January 2016
Studio Basic and Two Tiny Turtles | Choose Happy
The Nifty Pixel | Rosette Ready

I solved the case as so:
Testimony: Stripes, animal, ribbon, buttons, triangles
Evidence: 'My Boy' is the title of a song by Elvis Presley; Inspiration word, 'party' is in the journaling.

If you would like to pick up the template to play along, pop over to The Nifty Pixel blog.

Thank you for coming. Hope you are enjoying your day.

Amy Wolff - January Challenge

Hello Everyone,

I decided to enter another challenge, this time using Amy Wolff's digital products. It is to be linked to one of the challenges from the Lilypad's MOC4 challenge. I chose to link to the January 2 challenge: 'Listers Gonna List', which meant I had to include a list on my layout:

You

The Nifty Pixel | Page Drafts Template Bloomin' Lovely
Amy Wolff | Fresh Air
Amy Wolff | Renewal
Amy Wolff | Messy Marvins 5
Amy Wolff | Messy Marvins 6
Amy Wolff | Sassy Pants

Amy Wolff | A Little Damaged.

I chose to do a layout of my son and list 8 things about him. We were on our way to a school performance and he had to wear these 3D glasses as part of his performance. They look massive on his lil' face.

Hoping you all have a great day.
Thanks for coming by. :)

Scrapaneers - Champions Challenge

Hello Everyone,

I hope you are all enjoying this festive season.

Every month over at Scrapaneers, there is a challenge based on a theme. This month revolves around, 'The Reflective Spirit'. Some new techniques I learnt at Scrapaneers 'Champions', includes double exposure and reflective text. I was playing around and this is what I came up with:

This layout was super fun to create. This photo is of my children fooling around with some glasses and blow-up microphones they received from a party bag, and I just love it. It was a lucky snap.

To start with, I 'Googled', 'rockstars on stage' and found the image of a black silhouette crowd against the gorgeous blues/greens of lights. Perfect. I then blended my photo into it, and made the rest of the layout black. I added another photo, but as is, it was too white against the rest of the layout, so added a photo filter to soften the white and give a bluey/green tint. The scatter/frame is from Flergs - Urban Grunge which I re-coloured and then used Flergs - Wild Boyz glitter alpha and star element for the title to which I added a reflection (love this technique). Lastly, I added some extra sparkle from Rosey Posey - Needful Things.

Thank you for popping in. Hope you are enjoying a wonderful day.

Over at Scrapaneers, there is a class titled, Digital Art Dolls:

I have been eyeing it off for a while and was so curious, I had to take it. I was up 'til 2am last night/this morning, working on a 'doll'.

Here is my first effort for which I have also made an art journal page:

Tangie Baxter & Co - Art Journal Pockets Nos. 4 & 5.

Hello Everyone,

Every month, Tangie Baxter & Co release two challenges for Art Journal Pockets and give a free sheet to work on as a bonus.
I'm going to work a little backwards and start with Challenge No.5: Collage.
This is the free sheet you can download, print off and work with if you like:

I decided to go hybrid and printed it off, working on it, adding bits of paper and paint:

Credits
Tangie Baxter | Art Journal Sheet No. 136

It was really enjoyable to get my paints 'inky' again after such a long time not doing so. I cut these into the little pocket sizes and worked on them individually. I love working on this smaller size, it's much easier to pick up and do. Then I placed them on cardstock, re-arranging their original order, and stitched in-between. I did this only because I don't have plastic pockets on hand.

Challenge No 4: A Day In The Life Of You.
The sheet on offer for free:

And my digital page:

Tangie Baxter | Mint To Be
Tangie Baxter | Melt Springs
Tangie Baxter | Art Journal Bag 1

The Nifty Pixel | Passion Play Elements

And finally, an Art Journal Pocket (Digital) that I did just for fun last month, that went in The Gallery:

That's it for today. Thank you for spending a moment with me. Please pop over to read more about Art Journal Pockets HERE and play along with one or both of the challenges HERE.

Hope you have a creative day. :)

Scrapaneers - The Art of Photographs: 1

Hello fellow scrappers,

At the moment, I am taking a class, The Art of Photographs by Amanda Taylor over at Scrapaneers:

I have just completed Module 1 which has been wonderfully inspiring and totally enjoyable.

There were a few concepts covered, but I have chosen to play with the idea of using word art as a photo mask, as so:
boy
Credits: Background paper: The Nifty Pixel (Passion Play - Solid Papers); Elements: Flergs (Wildboyz - recoloured).

I decided to use the simple word, 'boy' and surround it with descriptive words of my son, or things that he likes. He didn't want the word, 'procrastinator' on there, but it is him at the moment (am hoping it is a phase!).

If you ever consider trying your hand at digital scrapping, or want to improve your skills, be sure to head over to Scrapaneers where there are plenty of classes to choose from.

Hope you all enjoy a productive weekend.:)

Scrapaneers - October Champions

Hello Everyone,

The latest Champions has just been released over at Scrapaneers. By the way, have you seen their new look website? I love it, it's so easy to use, and it's clear, bold and truly reflects their professionalism.
Anyway, October Champions is all about the Fear Factor. Doing something that gets you out of your comfort zone. It's a little scary to make that jump and leap off the edge, but at the same time, it is really thrilling to do so. The world widens and new possibilities emerge.

My layouts this month encapsulates techniques that I had never tried before. I had no idea what I was doing, but the more I played, the more I was enjoying myself and the fear started dissipating.

My first layout:
Everyday Magic
Credits:
Valorie Wibbens | Autumns Magic
Amanda Yi | You Are Fabulous
Additional Brushes | Just Jaimee, Dawn Inskip

I really love this photo of my eldest daughter so wanted to showcase a large version. The new techniques I used related to the layering of papers and using different modes to create different effects. More details are in the Champions Companion Book (for which you need to be a member of Champions to access).

My second layout is of my son. He LOVES anything and everything to do with Star Wars, so it was inspired by this passion of his.

May the force be with you
Credits:
Images taken from the web
Amanda Yi | You Are Fabulous
Valorie Wibbens | Autumns Magic
Lori Davison | Watch Out For The Moon

It feels very strange to not add any embellishments to the page. I tried - for hours! (Well, so it seemed.) But nothing worked, so this alone is out of my comfort zone. Also, my son wasn't holding a light-saber when I took the photo, I found one on the web and added it. I love that about digital scrapping. :)

For more information about Champions and other digital classes, please head over to Scrapaneers.

Thank you for coming by.
I appreciate your comments. :)

Tangie Baxter & Co - Art Journal Pockets: Challenge No.3

Hello Everyone,

I am super happy to announce I am now a member of the Art Journal Pockets Creative Crew for Tangie Baxter & Co. Never heard of Art Journal Pockets (AJP)? This might explain....

Art Journal Pockets are created by using nine 2.5x3.5" cards (placed in a trading card sheet protector) to compose one larger art journal page. It's a fabulous, mixed-media mash up of art journaling, pocket letters & artist trading cards. You can create Art Journal Pockets for yourself or to trade with friends!
(taken from Tangie Baxter & Co website).

To find out more, please visit the site HERE.

Every month, they hold two challenges, as well as a gallery just to share your makes. You don't have to post your AJP's, but there is an option to send and receive if that is what you would like. You can check it out HERE.

This month, I'm working a little backwards and chose the second challenge to work on first, the theme being, 'A World of Octobers'. With each challenge comes a free pdf that holds all the 9 backgrounds that you can use (or not - it's not a stipulation). Here is what is on offer this month:
To download, please go to the site HERE.

And this is what I created:

Hello all,

Each month at Scrapaneers, within the Champions membership, there is a fantastic release of techniques to learn, videos, a kit and usually some templates and/or styles. It's great value for the whole bundle and I am learning a heap! I love it!

This month, the focus is on paint and paint effects. When I do paper layouts, I love adding paint to my work and as such, want to add this same effect on my digital layouts. The kit this month is from Amanda Yi, 'You are fabulous'. Colourful, bright and happy:

And my layout, using all The Nifty Pixel products:
Cloud 9
The photo is of my eldest daughter and myself. I wanted children since I was a child myself, so was over the moon when I finally had my first of what was to be three children. The photo was taken just over 9 years ago. It's hard to believe so much can happen within that time.

Thank you for coming by. :)

CSI - Case File #176

Hello all,

CSI have released their fortnightly challenge - #176 and I'm happy to say I'm a Special Investigator for this interesting challenge:

My layout:
the VIOLIN
I am slowly working my way through my family heritage photos. This photo is of my mother (although I'm sure she wouldn't like to be considered, 'heritage') and although it is a little blurred, I still love it because it's very meaningful to me.

I solved the case as so:
COLOURS: I used all the colours
EVIDENCE: music elements, animals, stitching, spiral notebook punch, flourishes.
TESTIMONY: Inspiration word: music
Journaling reads: This photo was taken in 1964 at the beginning of your university studies.  You graduated with a Bachelor of Music. Here you are, holding a Guarneri violin, made in Italy in 1643.  It was on loan to you for the duration of your studies from the Elder conservatorium, Adelaide.  You were chosen amongst many to have the privilege.

To see more about the challenge and to check out the Design Team inspiration, please head HERE.

Wishing you all a happy day.:)

Kraft+ September Challenge - 2nd Layout

Hello all,

I would just like to share my second layout for the Kraft+ Challenge.

Here is the fabulous sketch again by Em Stafrace:

[click on image to be taken to the challenge]

And my layout:

This is of my youngest daughter sitting at the front of our house having a moment. I think I may have gone over-the-top with the paint on this one, but I was enjoying myself and couldn't help it! :)

For more details on the challenge please head over to HERE.

Thank you for looking.

Kraft + September Challenge

Hello Everyone,

I didn't realise, but Kraft+ accepts digital layouts. It's a 'Yay' from me who has been doing mainly digital this last year. The talented Em Stafrace is a guest on the site and came up with this fabulous sketch to follow as part of the challenge:

[click on the image to go to the site]
Seeing as I love triangles, and I'm happy they accept digital layouts, I ended up making two layouts for the challenge. However, I have to do two posts for them to be able to link up. So here is the first layout:

TODAY & NOW
The photo is of my eldest daughter. She was sitting around in our backyard tree when I brought my camera outside and took these candid shots.

The challenge is on all month, please go HERE for more details.

My layout:
HELLO

I solved the case as so:
COLOURS: I used all the colours
EVIDENCE: polka dots, plus signs, hearts, animals, flowers, leaves, bows, pocket
TESTIMONY: Inspiration words: love, hello; List prompts: 'Today I saw'. Journaling reads: Today I saw...+ you three cherubs playing together + the three of you laughing and giggling + a lovely family moment + us being together and enjoying our time + the sun shining.

The Nifty Pixel - Passion Play

Hi all,

The Nifty Pixel has just released another gorgeous kit, Passion Play at The DigiChick. It's part of the quarterly Hatchery offered at The DigiChick (TDC). The Hatchery being a release of colour co-ordinated products offered by the designers of TDC. This quarter is Indian Summer. Absolutely delicious:

My layouts:
This first layout is of my maternal grandmother.
 1956

9

The following is a photo of my maternal grandmother when she was 19, and my grandfather in the background. The photo seems to be double exposed. I don't think the film was wound on properly, which is why there are two images on the one photo. I'm really enjoying delving into these old photos and thinking about my dear departed grandparents. I feel very fortunate to have access to these photos.
Music is your Passion

As it's a new release, and part of the Hatchery, there is a saving of 30-50% of the products for the next few days only.

For more information and inspiration, be sure to head over to the The Nifty Pixel blog.

Thanks for coming by. :)
